I have come across (courtesy of Digg) an interesting new piece of software called Ubuntu Center (the mis-spelling is "correct"). It's like Webmin, but more Ubuntu-centric, and less advanced.
It's not the best of software, being an amalgamation of several different software products (for galleries, music, torrenting, etc.) and not being particularly well glued together, but it's interesting, and might just evolve into something amazing. (It's only at 1.0 alpha 1 at the time of writing, so there's plenty of time for growth).
I've taken pity on the appearance and markup of the project, and so I've decided to help out a little in my spare time, doing some redesign and cleanup of the markup and CSS. I've started with the system information page, which was almost exclusively table-based, and in desperate need of some attention. I cleaned up the markup (semantics, as always ), then added some slightly more advanced and (hopefully) prettyful styling. You can see the solution in which I'm posting progress on the Bounty Source site.
I suppose this is all I can say, but if you're looking to learn how to de-tableise your markup, you could take a look at the current Ubuntu Center system information page, and then at the version attached to my solution. I'm sorry I have no time to do a more detailed writeup, but my exams are next week. The project could do with a helping hand or two, too.
