About

I’m Philip, and I’m a student in England, currently studying for my A-levels.

My Ohloh contribution statistics.

I enjoy programming and hacking on things, with Totem being the project I’m currently contributing the most to — I’ve contributed the YouTube plugin, as well as rewrites for GtkBuilder, and a lot of bug triaging.

In the next couple of years, I’m going to finish my A-levels in computing, electronics, physics and further maths, and I hope to go on to study computer science at university. So far, the whole of the area of computer science has interested me, so I’ve got no idea about specialisation at this time, although I’m sure as I progress through my studies I’ll get a better idea of what interests me the most.

When I get the time, I enjoy gaming on the PC. I’ve never owned a console, so PC games (unfortunately still for Windows) are my main hobby, with my current favourite being Team Fortress 2. I’m not the best player out there, but it helps me wind down, and is quite an enjoyable game.

My musical tastes are quite specific; I’m a metalhead, and my favourite band is Iron Maiden. I’ve been trying to vary my listening habits recently, and branch out into things such as pirate metal, but for me, Maiden holds the greatest attraction.

Aside from computers, I’m a fan of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis films, enjoy making miniature models and playing around with hardware, and have a collection of unusual plants, including Confucius the bonsai, Spiny Norman the cactus, and Gordon the airplant.
